Two former show hosts at the defunct cable and satellite channel, Chris Pirillo and Leo Laporte, recently floated the idea of a TechTV Reunion that would let alumni of the popular (to geeks anyway) station post new video clips at a centralized location. The idea drew raves on the popular web news site Digg, launched by TechTV alum Kevin Rose. Now a new website is the wings that would do just that: UndoTV.

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Many of the "TechTV reborn" elements are already available in different places: Twit.TV, Diggnation, DL.TV, Cranky Geeks, What's New Now, and now Chi-Lan Lieu has a clone of "Fresh Gear" on the HGTV cable network.

Centralizing it all under one name might be useful but putting all the content under one name is also how it all died when TechTV went away. All the eggs were in one basket.

There are at least three or four baskets now and it seems to be working fine to me.

I do like the idea of a reunion however. A lot of people poured a lot of themselves into the channel and worked very hard at it, and the audience certainly felt a connection unlike any other channel perhaps in the history of television. A great big party might be a good thing for everyone.
